Why Girls?
Bill Clinton, speaking at the XVI International AIDS Conference, noted the more you empower women, the more likely you are to have prevention programs that work, education programs that work, and the more you will turn your infection rate back around.
C/o Maureen Akinyi
My daughter Maureen goes to a special school for the deaf. She cannot talk or hear, we communicate through sign language. As Maureen's parents, we are very grateful for AGEF to come to our rescue because since the government launched free education, in a society where disability is seen as a curse; children with special needs were never considered even though their school fees cost twice as much. Maureen had to drop out of school due to lack of school fees; many organizations came to interview us her but we never saw them again. I thank AGEF for taking Maureen's case seriously; Maureen has now finished high school and soon will be heading to college. Maureen's dream is to become a teacher so that she can teach children with disability like herself. Thank you very much, may God bless you. Okinyi, Maureen's dad.
Caren Adongo Ouma
When I was in form 2 when I lost both my parents in the year 2006. I and my siblings are now living with my grandmother who has no income whatsoever. I heard about AGEF through a friend and now all my hope is revived through AGEF initiative. I know and understand all the benefits education could bring in my life; I am thankful that AGEF has supported me and my twin sister. AGEF cleared our school fees arrears and we are back in school I appreciate your support and empathy for making our dreams come true. Thank you Caren.
Rose Emily Odhiambo
I genuinely come from a poor family and as a result I dropped out of school in early 2002 due to serious financial constraints. I stayed out of school hitherto. Early 2005, I got into a forced marriage that lasted 4 months, which left me bitter, but not burnt. I would like to thank AGEF for giving me another chance to go back to school. I am now happy and I'm continuing with my education. I promise to work hard and achieve the best out of this opportunity. Thank you for your support. Rose Emily.
